Went exploring somewhere much closer to home this morning - if you live here and haven't visited the Phoenix Sonoran Desert Preserve yet, it's our newest park with miles of gorgeous trails up on the north side of the city.
I was at a new coffee shop Wednesday night and saw what looked like a poem on the wall that really got under my skin and affected me deeply - I went home and discovered it's called the Holsteen manifesto, and it's my new mantra. So I walked it into my bones this morning out here in the desert. It goes like this:
"This is your life. Do what you love and do it often.
If you don't like something, change it.
If you don't like your job, quit.
If you don't have enough time, stop watching tv.
If you're looking for the love of your life, stop; they'll be waiting for you when you start doing the things you love.
Stop over-analyzing: life is simple. When you eat, appreciate every last bite.
Open your arms, heart, and mind to new things and new people. We are united in our differences.
Travel often; getting lost is the best way to find yourself.
Some opportunities only come once; seize them.
Life is about the people we meet and the things we create with them, so get out and start creating.
Life is short; live your dream, and wear your passion."
